Nurse Led Services: (Book via reception)

Immunisations, dressings, removal of sutures, registration checks, minor illness clinic, long term conditions reviews (diabetes, hypertension, asthma,etc), family planning, contraception, travel advice, minor injuries, first aid, NHS Healthchecks, cervical smears, ear syringing.

Please note if you are requiring ear syringing you need to use olive oil drops for 10 consecutive days prior to treatment in order to soften the wax and facilitate its removal.

We offer smoking cessation services with our nurses and health care assistants. This service can also be accessed from Guilsborough pharmacy with one of the pharmacists.

Please be aware that our reception team may need to ask you about the nature of your appointment, to ensure you are booked in with most appropriate health professional for an appropriate length of time.

Doctor Led Service

The following need to be discussed with a doctor:

  • Joint injections – Dr Northover or Dr Boon
  • Implanon Contraceptive implants – Drs Boon or Diana Furniss, Nurse Practitioner
  • Nexplanon Contraceptive implant – Drs Boon, and Diana Furniss, Nurse Practitioner
  • Cryotherapy to freeze warts – Dr Lovatt

Other Services

  • Physiotherapy – Referral from doctor
  • Audiology – Service from NGH. For referral from doctor
  • Counselling – Referral from doctor
  • Acupuncture – Referral from doctor

Health Visitors

The Health Visitors have their own office with a direct telephone 01604 749929. If not available a message can be left on the answering machine.

The Health Visitors hold ‘Drop in’ Baby Clinic on Wednesday morning 9:30 – 11:30 am.

Child Health Checks appointments to be arranged with the Health Visitor

District Nurses

Our District Nurses help housebound patients from 8.30am till 5.00pm seven days a week. Messages can be left for them at the surgery during the week. Out of hours and at weekends please ring the surgery number and the call will be dealt with by the Out Of Hours Service.

Community Midwife

Joy Hughes has been a qualified midwife since 1982. She has worked in Brixworth since 1986. Joy runs weekly antenatal clinics and does evening antenatal classes. Joy likes to see her ‘new mums’ between 6-8 weeks pregnant when possible.

School Health Team

The School Nursing Team for the area is based at Guilsborough and offer support to school age children and their families.
